UPDATE: Crash Causes Car to Rollover, Burst into Flames Killing One in Irvington Township

Crash investigation detectives were called to the scene of a horrible crash that left one person confirmed dead and at least two other individuals injured in Irvington Township Sunday. 

Here is what RLS Media has been able to confirm; the late-night incident happened around 9:45 p.m. at the intersection of Coit and Herpers streets. 

According to Irvington Township Police officials, firefighters and officers arrived at the scene and found a vehicle ignited in flames at that location. 

Fatal crash

Police officials said a preliminary investigation indicated that the driver of the car lost control and crashed, then rolled over, causing the vehicle to burst into flames. 

Firefighters swiftly extinguished the fire, then found a severely injured person at the crash scene. Medical professionals pronounced that victim dead upon arrival Irvington Police officials said. 

Residents in the area told RLS Media that they observed at least two other persons receiving medical assistance at the scene. 

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office detectives were on the scene to lead the active and ongoing investigation.
