The 54-year-old Clayton man accused of killing 32-year-old Joseph Pirri, of Blackwood, following a road-rage incident on Mar. 7th, was indicted this week.
According to authorities, Pirri’s death was the result of an assault that occurred on on Mar. 7th. at approximately 4:20 p.m. in the area of Tanyard Road near the intersection of Mail Avenue in Deptford Township.
Prosecutor said Moore, operating a Ford F-150, illegally passed Pirri's Nissan Versa then stopped in front of Pirri, got out and attacked him.
Officials said after the attack Pirri ran from the scene to seek help where he ultimately called 911 and described the assailant - adult black male, last seen wearing a gray vest and jeans - and described the vehicle - a white-over-tan Ford King Ranch pickup truck with a crew cab - that his attacker was operating.
Police said Pirri, who suffered a 5 3/4-inch slash from his nose to his ear, died of his injuries a week after.
Investigators with the assistance of surveillance videos from businesses, schools and homes, along with pins from Moore's cellphone led police to Moore.
Officials say this week a grand jury indicted Moore on first-degree murder and weapon possession charges.
According to authorities, Moore remains at the Salem County Correctional Facility until his post-indictment arraignment.
