UPDATE: Carjacking Suspect Sought by Newark Police

Police seek the public's assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with a carjacking that occurred on Wednesday, April 25th..

According to police, at approximately 12:30 a.m., in the 400 block of Frelinghuysen Avenue, the suspect approached, overpowered then took the victim's car.

Police say the suspect fled northbound on Frelinghuysen Avenue in the victim’s 2015 black, 4-door Mercedes Benz, New York plate HWA-2493.

The suspect is described a slim build in his 20’s, wearing a red and black jacket, a black hoodie and blue jeans according to police.

While police are actively searching for this suspect, we seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing them from our streets.

This investigation is ongoing.
