UPDATE: Body of Missing Totowa Kayaker Pulled from Splitrock Reservoir

Authorities today confirmed that the body a 55-year-old Totowa kayaker who went missing on Memorial Day has been recovered. 

Officials announced today that the body of Michael Vecchiarella, 55, of Totowa, was pulled from the Splitrock Reservoir by a New Jersey State Police dive team around 3:30 p.m. Friday.  

According to authorities, a search ensued Memorial Day, after Rockaway Township officials with received a report of an overturned kayak. 

According to Vecchiarella’s obituary, he was a Fragrance Compounder for Mane, USA, Wayne for the last 3 years. Prior to that he was a fashion photographer in NYC for many years.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, located at 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Saturday at 9:45 a.m. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Bonaventure R.C. Church, Paterson at 10:15 a.m.
