UPDATE: Body Discovered Inside Former Bed and Breakfast During Bergen County Fire

A tragic fire that broke out in the early hours of Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at a residence located at 850 Broad Avenue in Ridgefield, NJ, is currently under thorough investigation.AdThe Ridgefield Police Department was alerted to the blaze at approximately 2:21 a.m. and promptly responded alongside the Ridgefield Fire Department.

Efforts to suppress the fire were supported by neighboring fire departments, during which a body was discovered on the main floor of the house.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, in collaboration with the Ridgefield Police Department, has taken charge of the investigation into the fatal incident.

Acting Chief Matthew Finck of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Chief Thomas Gallagher of the Ridgefield Police Department are directing the investigative efforts.

In the wake of the fire, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Task Force has initiated a detailed search of the fire scene to determine the cause of the blaze.

The identity of the victim and the circumstances leading up to the fire remain under investigation as authorities work diligently to piece together the events that resulted in this tragedy.AdThe local community has been shaken by the event, and officials are urging anyone with information regarding the fire to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
