UPDATE: Barricaded Man in Rahway Surrenders to Police

Union County SWAT assisted on the scene of an incident where a man held police at bay and refused to come out of an apartment in a section of Rahway on Monday evening.

Police have not yet released official information into the circumstances into what prompted the incident to transpire, but according to preliminary information, at approximately 8:30 p.m., police sent a reversed 911 alert to residents to avoid the area of East Grand Avenue and Montgomery Street due to police activity.

At the scene, heavy police presence focused on The Grand Meridia luxury apartment building located at 255 East Grand Avenue.
