From Morris County Prosecutor: Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp, Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Acting Chief of Investigations Robert McNally and Chief Sean Conrad of the Jefferson Township Police Department announce and confirm an ongoing investigation into an incident that occurred in Jefferson Township.
Prosecutor Knapp has not officially released the name of the Newark Police Lt. but he said at approximately 11:21 p.m., law enforcement was dispatched to a residence located on Mirror Place in Jefferson Township on a report of shots fired.
Prosecutor Knapp said upon arrival, officers found an adult female shot dead and an adult male also sustained gunshot wounds and serious injury during this incident.
Prosecutor Knapp said ’at this time, the identities of these individuals will not be released’.
The investigation remains ongoing but at this time there is no concern for the safety of the community.
