UPDATE: Authorities Identify Man Killed in Plainfield Shooting

A shooting that left a man dead in Plainfield late Thursday afternoon is under investigation, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Friday.

According to authorities, the deceased victim has been identified as 32-year-old Shamar Coleman of Plainfield.

Authorities said at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, Plainfield Police Division patrol units responding to a report of a shooting at a restaurant on the 1000 block of East Second Street found Coleman at that location, having been shot multiple times.

Coleman was pronounced dead at the scene.

This incident is now under joint investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force, Plainfield Police Division, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit.
