UPDATE: Authorities Identify Irvington Man Among Two Killed in Newark Shootings

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose have announced that authorities are investigating two separate shooting incidents that occurred in Newark, NJ, late Friday night.

According to authorities, the first incidents occurred in the 100 block of Schuyler Avenue and the second incident in the 100 block of Willoughby Street late last night.

Authorities said, police officers were dispatched to Schuyler Avenue on a report of a person shot.

Arriving officers located a 19-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound.

This victim was rushed to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:08 a.m. authorities said.

The victim has been identified as **Kevin Baker, of Newark, NJ**, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly of the Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit.

According to authorities, shortly before midnight, Newark officers responded to the Willoughby Street location on reports of a shooting.

Arriving officers discovered that two victims, a male and a female, were suffering from gunshot wounds.

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:07 a.m.

He has been identified as **Robert Harrison, Jr, 24, of Irvington, NJ**, according to Fennelly.

The female victim, who is 27-years-old, was rushed to University Hospital where she has been admitted in critical condition.

Her identity is not being released for security reasons authorities said.

The shootings brings the total shooting for the overnight to five according to authorities.

These incidents, which do not appear to be related, are being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department.
