UPDATE: Authorities Identify 35-Year-Old Father of Two Killed by East Orange Gunfire

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office have released the identity of a man found fatally shot in East Orange early Monday morning.

According to authorities, 35-year-old Pierre Collins of East Orange was killed in the early morning hours of April 3rd.

Police responded to reports of shots fired that erupted in the area of Ashland Avenue and Prospect Terrace shortly before 2 a.m. where officers arrived to find Collins struck by gunfire according to authorities.

He was rushed to University Hospital where his injuries ultimately resulted in his fatality.

Family members told RLS Metro that Collins is the father of two young sons.

The motive for the shooting is under investigation by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.
