UPDATE: Authorities Charge Fort Lee Man Shot by Police

A police involved shooting that had a man injured in Fort Lee had authorities officially charge the suspect last night.

Gunfire rang out in the 400 block of Summit Avenue at around 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning sending backup police units to the scene where they found the injured man at that location.

The Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal officially announced the arrest of the suspects identified as **Mr. Jaquan A. Suber, 29, of Fort Lee**, on the following charges: Possession of Firearm for Unlawful Purpose, specifically to use it unlawfully against Fort Lee police officers, Possession of a Handgun Without Obtaining a Permit, and Pointing a Firearm Under Circumstances Manifesting Extreme Indifference, specifically by pointing it at Fort Lee police officer.

Suber is presently receiving treatment at Hackensack University Medical Center, and in police custody authorities said.

The investigation of the shooting of Suber is ongoing.

Bergen County Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
