Authorities have made several arrests in the fatal mass shooting that rocked Newark’s South Ward last month, according to information shared with RLS Media by sources familiar with the investigation.
Sources said at least two suspects—one juveniles and one adult (19-year-old), were recently taken into custody in connection with the quadruple shooting that left three victims dead.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is preparing to outline the developments during a press conference scheduled for Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. Officials have declined to confirm details surrounding the arrests until that briefing.

The case stems from the November 15 shooting on the 300 block of Chancellor Avenue, where gunfire erupted around 7 p.m. and left two victims dead and three others injured.
The rapid violence brought renewed grief to a community already carrying the weight of multiple tragedies in recent years.
Those killed were 10-year-old Jordan Garcia, a youth football player from Newark’s West Ward, and 21-year-old Kiyah Mae Scott. Both were transported to University Hospital but did not survive their injuries.
Jordan’s death in particular sent shockwaves through his school and neighborhood, where he was known as an energetic, talented young athlete with a bright future.
Three others were struck during the shooting. Jordan’s 11-year-old brother survived and remains in stable condition.
Sixty-year-old Mr. Sheppard Miller was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Nineteen-year-old Mr. Masi Rogers, who initially remained in critical condition, later died from his wounds.
Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr., and Essex County Sheriff Amir Jones previously said investigators were making progress and working continuously on the case.
