UPDATE: Arrest Made in Newark East Ward Murder of Voorhees Man

Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, New Jersey Transit Police Chief Christopher Trucillo and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose announced today that Lonnie Arrington, 48, of Newark has been arrested by New Jersey Transit Police for the murder of Michael Shendock, 38, of Voorhees.

Police say Arrington was arrested at Penn Station on Oct. 16.

According to police, Shendock was shot and killed on Sept. 23, of this year in front of 7 South Street in Newark.

A second man was also shot but he survived police said.

In addition to murder, Arrington is charged with aggravated assault in connection with the shooting of the second victim, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.

The investigation is active and ongoing.

These are accusations.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
