According to a statement released by authorities, at approximately 5:10 a.m., members of the Bayonne Police Department responded to 484 John F. Kennedy Boulevard on a report of a potential domestic violence incident.
Officials say upon arrival, Bayonne Police Officers located an unresponsive female victim with an apparent gunshot wound.
The female victim has been identified as Ms. Diamond Robinson, 26, of Bayonne. She was pronounced dead at approximately 5:30 a.m. at the scene officials say.
The cause and manner of death are pending investigation by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
A preliminary investigation was conducted by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit with the assistance of the Bayonne Police Department and a suspect was identified.
At approximately 5:55 a.m., Mr. Anthony Shuler, 28, of Jersey City was arrested by members of Bayonne Police Department on East 21st Street in Bayonne without incident.
Shuler has been charged with Murder in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3; Possession of a Weapon (Firearm) for an Unlawful Purpose in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4; Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Firearm) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5; and Certain Persons Not To Possess a Weapon in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-7.
Prosecutor Suarez credited the Homicide Unit for the preliminary investigation and the Bayonne Police Department with the arrest and for assisting with the preliminary investigation.
The Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Bayonne Police Department continue to investigate this case.
