Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone stated that on May 19, at approximately 1:57 a.m., the South Plainfield Police Department received a 911 call reporting a stabbing at a residence on Tooz Place in South Plainfield.

Upon their arrival, authorities located Brandon Andrews-Cruz, 38, of Raritan, and a 32-year-old female from South Plainfield with stab wounds, MCPO officials say.

According to Middlesex County officials, Andrews-Cruz was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the female was transported to the hospital, where she was treated for her injuries.

She has since been released from the hospital.

MCPO authorities said that an investigation led by Detectives Javier Morillo and Ryan Kirsh of the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office determined that Pablo Cicero, 46, of Edison, was the perpetrator.

On May 29, Cicero was arrested without incident and charged with first-degree Murder, first-degree Attempted Murder, first-degree Home Invasion Burglary, two counts of third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and two counts of fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Middlesex County officials said.

MCPO officials say Cicero is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending the results of a Pre-trial detention hearing.
