Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and East Orange Police Chief Phyllis Bindi announced today that Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force and the East Orange Police are investigating the fatal shooting of Mr. Ahlayah Bowens of East Orange.
Police said Sunday, June 20, Bowens was shot on Hoffman Boulevard at approximately 9:10 pm.
Bowens was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:24 p.m.
The investigation is active and ongoing. Police said no arrests have been made so far.
