Authorities in Newark are reporting the arrest of**Joshua Lugo, 19, of Easton, PA, and Raheem Peebles, 27, of Newark** for possessing a loaded .22 caliber handgun and shoplifting yesterday (Friday).
According to Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose, at approximately 1:20 p.m., police responded to the Family Dollar Store at 976 Bergen Street after receiving a call for a person with a weapon.
Director Ambrose said two male suspects entered the store and began shoplifting.
The two suspects later returned to the store and were arrested without incident Director Ambrose said.
Both Lugo and Peebles were arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Shoplifting according to Director Ambrose.
These charges are merely accusations.
The suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
