A 90-year-old woman died and three others were injured after a fire tore through a Jersey City home Thursday evening, according to Hudson County authorities.
Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello said Jersey City firefighters were called to 81 Boyd Avenue shortly after 5:10 p.m., where crews encountered heavy fire coming from a single-family home.
During firefighting operations, crews removed 90-year-old Jersey City resident Zenaida Mojica from the home. She was pronounced dead a short time later.
Two male residents and a firefighter also suffered injuries that authorities said were not considered life-threatening.
Officials said the fire displaced 19 people from their residences.
The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and Jersey City Fire Department are investigating the cause and origin of the blaze. Authorities said foul play is not suspected at this time.
