UPDATE: 70-Year-Old East Orange Pedestrian Killed in Irvington

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Irvington Police Director Tracy Bowers announced that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Crime Scene Investigations Bureau (CSIB) is investigating a vehicle-pedestrian collision in Irvington that left one man dead.Ad

Officials said on Saturday, October 28, at 10:07 p.m., police were notified of a vehicle-pedestrian collision at the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Linden Avenue in Irvington. 

The pedestrian, Mr. Bernard Jones, 70, of East Orange, was transported to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and pronounced dead at 10:20 p.m. 

The driver of the vehicle did not remain on the scene. 

The investigation is active and ongoing. 

No arrests have been made.
