A fatal stabbing outside an auto mechanic shop in Elizabeth early this morning is under joint investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force, Elizabeth Police Department, and Union County Sheriff’s Office, , acting Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo announced Saturday.
The victim has been identified as Mr. Carlos Ariza, 67, of Elizabeth.
Officials say shortly before 2 a.m. on Saturday, Elizabeth Police Department patrol units responded to the 500 block of Elizabeth Avenue on a report of an argument, according to the preliminary investigation.
Arriving officers found Ariza at the scene, having sustained a stab wound.
Ariza was transported to University Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced dead.
