UPDATE: 66-Year-Old Woman Stabbed to Death in Newark’s West Ward

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé reported that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the fatal stabbing of Ms. Annie D. Gooden, 66, of Newark.

According to a statement released by Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Spokesman Robert Florida, on June 7, at 1:41 p.m., police responded to a report of an unresponsive woman inside a residence on the 200 block of Sunset Avenue in Newark.

Police found Gooden suffering from apparent stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 2 p.m. 

The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made.
