Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the fatal shooting of Mr. Kevin E. Brown, 61, of Newark.
According to police on October 18, at about 10:04 p.m., Newark police received a report of a shooting on the 700 block of South Orange Avenue, Newark.
Arriving officers located the victim outside at that location, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to University Hospital and pronounced dead at 10:45 p.m.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
No arrests have been made.
