UPDATE: 60-Year-Old New Yorker Shot Dead in Newark’s South Ward

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens has reported that the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is currently conducting an investigation into the tragic shooting that claimed the life of Mr. Vincent J. Anderson, aged 60, a resident of New York City.

According to ECPO Spokesman Robert Florida,  at precisely 3:55 p.m., Newark police responded to a  report of a shooting incident on the 300 block of Renner Avenue in Newark.

Officers swiftly arrived at the scene and discovered Vincent J. Anderson outside, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Despite the immediate response and efforts of first responders, Anderson's injuries were fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:11 p.m.

As the investigation unfolds, law enforcement officials are actively pursuing leads to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

Authorities are urging anyone who may possess information pertinent to the investigation to come forward and assist in their ongoing efforts to uncover the truth behind this senseless act of violence.
