UPDATE: 47-Year-Old Man Shot Dead Inside Jersey City Park

Prosecutor Suarez said the Jersey City Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at the Lafayette Park located near Van Horne and Maple streets in Jersey City.

Upon arrival, officials said responding police officers found an unresponsive male with an massive gunshot wound in his head in the area of the gazebo in Lafayette Park.

Police say the male, later identified as Mr. Teyan Grant, 47, of Jersey City was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 8:45 p.m.

The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.

No arrests have been made at this time.
