UPDATE: 45-Year-Old Man Shot Dead in Paterson

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announce that on Monday at approximately 9:14 p.m., police officers responded to the intersection of Governor Street and Carroll Street in the City of Paterson in response to a report of shots fired.

Upon their arrival, the officers discovered the victim, Mr. Robert Covington, 45 years old from Paterson, lying near the sidewalk with apparent gunshot wounds. Mr. Covington was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center where he succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced deceased at approximately 9:49 p.m.

This investigation is active and ongoing.
