UPDATE: 43-Year-Old Newark Man Shot Dead in Bergen County

Bergen Cunty officials said in a statement, at approximately 1:11 a.m., the Englewood Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired in the vicinity of the intersection of 2nd Street and 4th Street.

Officials say, responding officers found multiple individuals in the roadway who had attended a gathering at a residence on 2nd Street.

Officers also found two gunshot victims lying in the roadway: a 29-year-old male from Englewood and a 43-year-old male from Newark.

Both victims were transported to area hospitals.

The 43-year-old male succumbed to his injuries, and the 29-year-old male is still being treated.

Multiple shell casings were located at the scene of the shooting, and multiple vehicles were struck with projectiles.

An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, the Englewood Police Department under the direction of Chief Lawrence Suffern, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton.
