UPDATE: 41-Year-Old Man Killed in Newark South Ward Shooting

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé announced that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the fatal shooting of Rahim E. Wynn, 41, of Newark.

According to a statement released by Spokesman Robert Florida, on October 18, at about 7:27 p.m., Newark police responded to a report of a shooting on the 100 block of Dayton Street in Newark. 

Police say arriving officers located Wynn at that location suffering from gunshot wounds. 

He was transported to University Hospital and pronounced dead at 11:42 p.m.

The investigation is active and ongoing.

No arrests have been made.
