UPDATE: 41-Year-Old Irvington Woman Shot Dead in Newark West Ward Triple Shooting

Essex County authorities reported that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating a shooting last night in Newark that left one woman dead and two injured.

According to Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Spokesman Robert Florida, on May 22, at 8:08 p.m., police were notified of a shooting on the 900 block of 18th Avenue in Newark.

A gunman arrived at the location and fired nearly two dozen rounds before fleeing the scene. 

Florida said Newsrk Police found Mrs. Latoya Miller-Kone, 41, of Irvington, suffering apparently from gunshot wounds.

She was transported to University Hospital and pronounced dead at 8:30 p.m.

Authorities said two other shooting victims, a man from East Orange and a woman from Newark, were treated at the hospital for nonfatal injuries.

The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made.
