UPDATE: 4-Year-Old Drowns in Bergen County Pool

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit, in conjunction with the Woodcliff Lake Police Department, is investigating a tragic incident of apparent drowning at a private residence on Heidi Lane in Woodcliff Lake.

The incident occurred on Friday, July 21, 2023, and involved a four-year-old child.

According to The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, at approximately 5:05 p.m., the Woodcliff Lake Police Department received a distressing 911 call reporting a possible drowning of the young child.

In response to the emergency, authorities rushed to the scene to render immediate assistance.

The child was swiftly transported to Valley Hospital for urgent medical attention, but despite their best efforts, the child was ultimately pronounced deceased.

Both the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, led by Chief Jason Love, and the Woodcliff Lake Police Department, under the guidance of Officer-in-Charge Deputy Chief Steven Regula, are diligently conducting a thorough investigation into the tragic incident.
