Essex County authorities reported today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the fatal shooting of Mr. Altariq Johnson, 36, of Newark
In the early morning hours of Saturday, October 8, police responded to the 100 block of Brenner Street, Newark.
Officials said they found Johnson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was taken to University Hospital and pronounced dead at 3:42 a.m.
Johnson’s murder caps off a violent overnight in Newark with one other murder and several other shootings around the city.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
No arrests have been made.
