UPDATE: 61-Year-Old Man Killed Repairing Car with Nephew in Paterson

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald announced that at approximately 6:34 p.m., on Tuesday, police responded to the area of 16 Salem Road in the City of Paterson in response to a reported pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle.

According to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office, Mr. Kesnel Rochelyn, 61-years-old, of Paterson was seriously injured when he was pinned under a 2004 BMW 325.

Passaic County officials say Mr. Rochelyn and his nephew, 28-years-old, who was operating the vehicle and both men were working on the vehicle when he was struck then trapped under the car. Officials would not confirm if the incident has been deemed an accident at this time.

Medical personnel pronounced Mr. Rochelyn dead at the scene.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
