UPDATE: 23-Year-Old Newark Man Shot Dead, Two Others Injured in Hail Of Early Morning Gunfire

Essex County officials reported today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal shooting of Mr. Abdul Crowley, 23, of Newark.

The latest shooting caped off a violent seven days where just over a half dozen victims have been shot, with two killed in Newark. 

According to officials, on August 30, at 12:50 a.m., Newark Police discovered the victim on the 100 block of Mitchell Place, Newark.

Crowley was taken to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and pronounced dead at 1:11 a.m.

Officials said two other shooting victims, a male and a female, were taken to the Center for treatment.

The investigation is active and ongoing.

No arrests have been made.
