UPDATE: 22-Year-Old Man Shot Dead in Paterson Drive-By Shooting

Passaic County officials announce that at approximately 7:34 p.m. on February 18, members of the Paterson Police Department were dispatched to the area of 21st Avenue and East 21st Street in Paterson on a report of shots fired. 

According to police, upon their arrival, officers located a Jeep Cherokee with several bullet holes which had struck another vehicle on East 21st Street. Officers discovered a victim, Stevens Origene, 22-years-old from Paterson, seated in the driver’s seat of the Jeep with apparent gunshot wounds. 

Officials said that Mr. Origene was transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson where he was pronounced deceased. 

According to police, a short time later, the Paterson Police Department was notified that a second victim, an 18-year-old male from Paterson, was being treated at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack and had arrived by a private vehicle. 

The second victim has been admitted for treatment of a gunshot wound and is in stable condition.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it becomes available.
