Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal shooting of Tyiere Parks, 22, of Newark.
Authorities said Parks was shot this morning at 12:14 am.
EMS transported Parks to University Hospital where he doctors pronounced him dead at 1:10 a.m.
The shooting occurred in the 800 block of Clinton Avenue near the intersection of Fabyan Place in Newark.
Police responded to the location because of a report of shots fired.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
Authorities said at this time, no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.
