UPDATE: 13 More K2 Arrests Made in Newark

Numerous arrests made in connection with recent influx of individuals sickened after being diagnosed with ingesting synthetic marijuana, also known as K2.

During joint operations conducted during the past three weeks with Newark Police and Essex County Prosecutor’s Narcotics Task Force Personnel have resulted in 13 arrests.

Those arrested include Hans Vincent, 39, of Newark, at Market Street and Raymond Plaza East on charges of CDS Possession (K2) and CDS Possession with the Intent to Distribute. Evandrea L. Johnson, 30, and Kadeem R. Robinson, 26, both of Newark, were also arrested for CDS Possession (K2) at the same location.

The contingent also arrested the following men at 80 Park Place: Brett Morris, 30, Howard Wighams, 37, and Noble Harris, 36, all of Newark. Each is charged with CDS Distribution (K2), Distribution of CDS within 1,000-ft. of a School, Distribution of CDS within 500-ft. of a Park and CDS Possession. Morris and Wighams are further charged with Conspiracy.

Ian Shipman, 22, and Sharon Hall, 31, both of Newark, were arrested for CDS Possession (K2), CDS Possession with the Intent to Distribute, and Distribution of CDS within 500-ft. of a Park. Victor Raymonds, 28, of Newark, was also arrested for Possession of CDS (K2).

Others arrested during this operation include: Jabril Cox, 31, of Newark, for Possession of Marijuana; Wakil Green, 22, of Irvington, for an outstanding warrant for CDS Possession; Daniel Teller, 25, of Newark, for Possession of Marijuana; and Cesar Ortiz, for CDS Possession (heroin), CDS Possession with the Intent to Distribute, and Distribution of CDS within 1,000-ft. of a School.

“This is an ongoing investigation,” Director Ambrose said. “Through our combined efforts with our law enforcement partners, we are making significant progress in identifying those responsible for the manufacture and distribution of K2 in our city.”    

These charges are merely accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
