UPDATE: 11 Displaced After Firefighters Contain Two-Alarm Blaze in Newark

A two-alarm fire broke out Tuesday afternoon at a residential building in Newark, displacing multiple families but causing no reported injuries, according to a statement released by the Newark Department of Public Safety.

Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda stated that firefighters responded to the scene at 127 11th Avenue around 1:06 p.m. on April 22, 2025, after receiving reports of a fire. 


Upon arrival, crews observed flames coming from the roof area of the building and quickly called for a second alarm to bring in additional resources.

Thanks to swift action, the fire was declared under control by 1:51 p.m.

No injuries were reported; however, two families—consisting of eight adults and three children—were relocated due to the damage.

The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation by the Newark Department of Public Safety’s Arson Unit.
