The Greater Newark community is gearing up for a joyful celebration of the fall season as United Community Corporation (UCC) prepares to host its eagerly anticipated Harvest Fest.

This event, scheduled for October 27th at the Westside Park Community Center in Newark, promises a day filled with fun, treats, and valuable resources for residents of all ages.

UCC's Harvest Fest, set to kick off at 3 p.m., offers attendees a chance to partake in a wide range of autumn activities.

Among the highlights is a trunk-or-treat extravaganza, a delightful twist on the traditional Halloween tradition, featuring creatively decorated car trunks brimming with delectable treats for children and their families to enjoy.

Generously donated costumes from JerseyCares will ensure that every child in attendance can fully embrace the Halloween spirit this year.

The event lineup includes a pumpkin bowl, face-painting sessions, and live musical entertainment to keep spirits high.

Attendees will also have access to a variety of essential resources, including groceries and fresh produce distribution, the UCC Mobile Wash Trailer, and flu vaccinations administered by Saint James Health.

"We are thrilled to host Harvest Fest, providing a safe and fun-filled space for the community to come together," remarked Alena Minatee, Director of Community Engagement at UCC.

"This event exemplifies the strength and unity of Greater Newark residents, offering something for attendees of all ages while remaining dedicated to the agency's mission of serving individuals from diverse economic and social backgrounds."

Harvest Fest isn't just about community connection, it's also an opportunity to connect individuals with crucial services.

UCC staff members will be on-site during the event to provide community members with information about the nonprofit's numerous services.

"While Harvest Fest offers families plenty of enjoyment, it also plays a vital role in connecting community members with local resources and support services," emphasized Yolanda Loney, Director of Youth, Family, and Senior Services at UCC.

"It's a wonderful way to foster unity, strengthen our community, and make a positive impact."

Attendees will also be welcome to use UCC's Mobile Wash Trailer, equipped with washers, dryers, and a utility sink, offering free laundry facilities to those in need, particularly residents without a fixed address.

UCC received financial support from the state Department of Community Affairs to acquire the mobile laundry trailer and laundry supplies were generously donated by Earth Breeze.

The event's success was made possible by UCC's partner Amerigroup, as well as Deputy Mayor Jacqueline Quiles of the City of Newark, along with various supporters and sponsors. Additional organizations that played a pivotal role in bringing Harvest Fest to life include the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, Essex County, Community FoodBank of New Jersey, Peapack-Gladstone Bank, New Jersey FBI, New Jersey DCA, NJ Department of Health, and Newark Centers of Hope.

"Amerigroup is proud to once again partner with UCC and Deputy Mayor Jacqueline Quiles of the City of Newark to host Harvest Fest," said Margarita Valentin, Health Promotion Consultant at Amerigroup.

"Amerigroup is committed to improving lives and health by providing resources and services to the communities we serve."
