A police officer was transported to the hospital Monday after he was struck by a car during a routine traffic stop in Rahway.
According to Rahway Police, a Union County Police Department officer pulled over a vehicle at around noon near the Rodeway Inn, located at 1650 Route 1 South, when the female driver exited the car.
Authorities said the officer suffered non-life threatening injuries when he was knocked to the ground by the car after it was accidentally placed in reverse.
The driver of the vehicle did not experience any physical injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
