Unidentified Man Found Dead in Hawthorne Fire

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Hawthorne Police Chief James W. Knepper announced a tragic discovery following a fire in Hawthorne.AdOn January 11, 2024, at around 9:03 p.m., the Hawthorne Police Department responded to a fire reported at the intersection of 4th Avenue and Lafayette Avenue.

Upon arrival, patrol units observed an active fire at the rear of a property located at 20 4th Avenue.

The Hawthorne Fire Department was able to successfully extinguish the blaze.

However, in the aftermath of the fire, responders found the body of an unidentified deceased man.

The incident has sparked an active and ongoing investigation, with details to be released as they become available.
