Umbrellas Still Needed as Cooler Weather Settles Over North Jersey

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

We’re waking up to lingering clouds after a dreary, stormy Monday that brought much-needed rain to the Garden State. While the soaking rainfall helped ease dry conditions, it also left behind plenty of problems.

The storms scattered debris across parts of the region and even caused a roof collapse at a BJ’s Wholesale Club in Ocean Township, forcing shoppers to evacuate.

It was a rough day of heavy rain, flooding concerns, and storm-related damage in several communities.

As we head into Tuesday, keep the umbrellas handy.

A few spotty showers remain possible through the morning and at times during the day, especially across North Jersey.

Temperatures will stay well below recent averages, with highs struggling to reach the mid-70s—a refreshing change after last week’s oppressive heat.

According to the National Weather Service:

Today: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 11 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. North wind around 9 mph.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. North wind 5 to 7 mph.

Have a great Tuesday, Jersey!

Keep the umbrella close, allow yourself a little extra travel time if you encounter a passing shower, and enjoy the cooler, more comfortable weather.
