A customer riding inside an Uber vehicle was taken into custody after reportedly attacking the driver during an overnight dispute in Englewood Cliffs.
According to preliminary statements, police were called to the Palisades Interstate Parkway near exit 1 to investigate an assault in progress that occurred just before 9:35 p.m.
Once police officers arrived at the scene, they found the driver of an Uber vehicle suffering apparent injuries after being punched in the back of the head, choked with a seatbelt, and injured to the arm when the rear seat passenger -customer- began to go on the attack for an unspecified reason according to reports.
Police immediately requested an EMS unit for the driver then placed the alleged intoxicated customer under arrest according to reports.
The victim's injuries were reported as non-life threatening and the incident remains under investigation.
