Two-Year Old Found Alone Wandering Newark Street By Concerned Citizen

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that a 2-year old male child was found by a concerned citizen today.

Authorize is said at approximately 10:37 a.m., a female citizen contacted Newark Police to report that she had found a child left alone in the area of Elizabeth and Renner avenues.

The concerned citizen remained with the child, who was wearing a blue coat and blue uniform pants, until police arrived.

As a result of their investigation, detectives have determined that the child was in the care of a relative when he went missing.

The child was transported to University Hospital for observation and the Division of Child Protection and Permanency was notified.

The investigation will be continued by the Special Victims Unit of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
