Two Vehicles Strike, Fatally Injure 81-Year-Old Woman in Hackensack

Hackensack

Officials in Bergen County are investigating the cause of a pedestrian strike that killed a senior woman in Hackensack Thursday night.

According to Hackensack Police,  just after 7 p.m., an 81-year-old woman crossing at the intersection of Polify Road and Standish Avenue was struck by a hit-and-run car.

Police say a  dark BMW X5 SUV with tinted windows struck the woman then sped from the scene. Police believe the fleeing vehicle has heavy front-end damage because it left debris in the street.

According to police, a second vehicle struck the woman while she laid in the roadway. She was pronounced dead at the scene, Hackensack Police officials said.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Fatal Accident Investigations Unit and city police are continuing to investigate.
