Two vehicles were stolen in separate incidents in Maplewood Sunday, prompting an investigation by police.
According to authorities, sometime before 5:30 p.m, officers were notified of a vehicle theft on Jacoby Street.
When police arrived to take a report, officers were informed that a thief stole a black 2008 Mercedes Benz E Class with a reported NJ license plate number "L41-DVE".
Officials are trying to confirm if the same suspect is responsible for a second car theft from the township on Sunday.
Police say in this incident, they are looking for a white 2013 Ford van with a reported NJ license plate number "XRK-N88". Police have not confirmed if the vehicles were left running at this time.
Two Mercedes Benz vehicles were recovered in Lyons Ave. Plaza near Blimpies in Newark/Irvington.
Both thefts remain under investigation.
