DEVELOPING NEWARK NJ: Two Shots Fired Incidents Under Investigation in Newark

There are two active shooting crime scene investigations underway in Newark’s Central and South Wards.

The first incident occurred at around 6:15 p.m. in the area of Peshine and Avon avenues where gunmen pulled up in a car with two occupants reportedly leaning from the windows and firing multiple shots as the car drove down the block.

Police arrived at the scene to find that shell casings littered the sidewalks and streets but there were no injuries reported.

Over in the city’s South Ward, at approximately 6:30 p.m., just under a dozen round of gunfire erupted in the area of Clinton Avenue and South 11th Street sending police to the scene where officers reputed traffic and NJ Transit buses as they taped off the area to search for possible victims.

Police have not found any victims at this time.

Please avoid the area for the investigations.
