Two police officers were hospitalized Tuesday night following a high-speed chase through Paterson that ended in a violent crash involving a vehicle reported stolen out of Union County.

According to preliminary information, the pursuit began after officers identified a vehicle with a felony eluding alert tied to a Union Township case.
When police attempted to pull the driver over, the suspect refused to stop and led officers on a dangerous chase through city streets.

The pursuit came to a crashing end just before 9 p.m. in the 400 block of Summer Street, where the suspect slammed into multiple vehicles.
During the final moments of the pursuit, the driver allegedly attempted to strike officers trying to block the vehicle’s path.
The vehicle was ultimately disabled after colliding with several cars, and the suspect was taken into custody at the scene.

Two officers injured in the crash were transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment.
Officials say they are expected to recover.
The incident remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet released the identity of the suspect or additional details regarding charges.
