Two Oak Ridge Residents Charged with Jefferson Twp. Bank Robbery

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp and Jefferson Township Police Chief Kevin Craig announce the arrest of William Chasmer, 57, of Oak Ridge and Janet C. Kaine, 44, of Oak Ridge on charges related to a robbery that occurred on March 11 at the PNC Bank located on Berkshire Valley Road in Jefferson Township.  

At approximately 9:40 a.m., police responded to the PNC Bank for a report of a bank robbery, where according to bank employee an armed male entered the bank and demanded money.  

The investigation led law enforcement to William Chasmer’s residence where he was arrested without incident.  Further investigation developed Janet C. Kaine as an alleged accomplice. 

Both William Chasmer and Janet Kaine were charged with one count of robbery, a crime of the first degree, and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery, a crime of the second degree. 

Chasmer’s bail was set at $250,000, full cash, bond or property without a ten percent option. 

Kaine’s bail was set at $150,000, full cash, bond or property without a ten percent option.  

Both defendants were remanded to the Morris County Correctional Facility.
