Newark police are investigating a double shooting that happened in the city’s West Ward on Thursday afternoon.
According to information released by the Newark Police Department, officers responded to the area of South Orange Avenue and Speedway Avenue at around 1:20 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.
When officers arrived, they located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. 
He was transported to University Hospital, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said a second victim later arrived at St. Michael’s Hospital seeking treatment for a gunshot wound believed to have been sustained in the same incident.
Both men are reported to be in stable condition.
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda confirmed that the investigation.
