Two Motorcyclists Dead From Collision in Rumson

A male and female riding a motorcycle died as the result of being struck by a motor vehicle Saturday evening in Rumson, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

According to officials, Mr. John J. Berry Jr., 29, of Atlantic Highlands, and his passenger, Ms. Stephanie Hogan 28, of Red Bank, were riding a 2018 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle westbound on Hartshorne Road, approaching the intersection of Navesink Avenue where Hartshorne Road becomes Ridge Road, when a 2019 Jeep Wrangler struck them at approximately 7:20 p.m.

Police say that both riders were ejected from the motorcycle and sustained life-threatening injuries.

According to police Berry and Hogan were pronounced dead at the scene at 8:02 p.m.

Officials stated that the driver of the Wrangler and one passenger, both minors, stopped and remained on scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, and Rumson Police Department and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART).
