Two men were arrested after an early Sunday morning fight in Newark escalated into a violent confrontation in which both allegedly used broken glass bottles as weapons, according to information released by Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda.
Police responded at approximately 5:42 a.m. on Sunday, August 2, to the area of South 20th Street and Hopkins Place following reports of a stabbing in progress.
When officers arrived, they found two men who had been fighting and using the shattered glass from broken bottles to attack one another.
Police say one of the suspects suffered multiple lacerations and was transported to University Hospital for treatment.
The second suspect sustained a cut to his arm and was also taken to University Hospital. Authorities said both men are in stable condition.
Following treatment, both individuals were placed under arrest. The incident remains under investigation.
